Railways eases norms for vendors

  • The Railways has made its procurement norms easier by allowing vendors who have been approved by one railway institution to be automatically eligible for supply of the same goods and services at other railway establishments.
  • Previously, vendors had to go through the approval process at every establishment.
  • This decision could save time and effort for vendors by doing away with the need of approaching multiple approving agencies, while also increasing the competition in public procurement, making it more economical and efficient.

  • Most of Oil India Limited's wells in Assam's Baghjan, which were shut due to protests by locals over a fire at a gas well after a days-long blowout, have resumed operations following a meeting with a representative body of residents mediated by the Tinsukia district administration.

Delhi issues revised order on home isolation

  • Coronavirus patients who do not have comorbidities or require hospitalisation can opt for home isolation.
  • "All individuals who are positive will be referred to the COVID care centres for assessment of clinical conditions, severity of illness and presence of co-morbidities," the order said.
  • An assessment will also be done to check whether adequate facilities like minimum two rooms and a separate toilet exist so that the family members and neighbours are protected and a cluster of cases does not develop in that locality, according to the order.

Spain reopens border with France
