The History Of India From 2800 BC To 1947

India has been a land of ancient civilizations. The history of India begins with the Indus valley Civilization and the Vedic Civilization which saw its genesis in the holy land now known as India around 2500 BC, and covers thousands of years with many periods and dynasties.
The fifth century saw the unification of India under Ashoka (an Indian emperor of the Maurya Dynasty), who had converted to Buddhism, and it is in his reign that Buddhism spread to many parts of Asia. In the eighth century, Islam came to India for the first time and by the eleventh century had firmly established itself in India as a political force. It resulted in the formation of the Delhi Sultanate, which was finally succeeded by the Mughal Empire, under which India once again achieved a large measure of political unity. Leading of course to the British Empire who ruled us for almost 200 years. Well, this video by Ollie Bye will take you through the entire journey of Indian history from the 29th century BCE to till the date (2016).
