Goa CM Launches ‘Beach Vigil App’ for Holistic Management of beaches

The chief minister (CM) of Goa, Pramod Sawant has launched a ‘Beach Vigil App’, a collaboration between Information Technology (IT) sector and tourism sector that aims to benefit tourists and the institutions working in the beach tourism sector in a holistic management of beaches.

About the app:

• Through the Beach Vigil App, the Drishti workers, police and other stakeholders can raise issues for safeguarding the interest of the tourist’s.During the launch, Goa IT and Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte was also present.
• The app will cover everything from reporting illegal hawkers and illegal massage services to beach cleanliness. The Public Health Foundation of India report on India’s rape related crimes states that Goa has documented the highest increase of 559.4% in the last two decades, or 5.6 times the national average.

Alok Kumar Choudhary takes charge as MD of SBI

Alok Kumar Choudhary has took charge as the new Managing Director (MD) of State Bank of India (SBI). His appointment comes in the wake of the superannuation of Ashwani Bhatia as Managing Director on May 31, 2022. Choudhary was previously Deputy Managing Director (Finance) at the bank. As the new MD, he will be handling retail business and operations.

Per a notification issued by the Department of Financial Services, the new MD’s appointment is with effect from the date of assumption of office and up to the date of his superannuation (June 30, 2024), or until further order, whichever is earlier. Following Choudhary’s appointment, SBI now has four MDs. The other MDs are Challa Sreenivasulu Setty, Swaminathan J and Ashwini Kumar Tewari.

IAF heritage centre to come up in Chandigarh

IAF heritage centre to come up in Chandigarh

A heritage centre to showcase the role of the Indian Air Force in various wars and its overall functioning will come up at Chandigarh. The ‘IAF Heritage Centre’ will be set up jointly by the force and the Chandigarh administration. An MoU between the Union Territory of Chandigarh and the IAF for setting up of the centre was inked. The ceremony was attended by Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit and Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari.

About the heritage centre:

This heritage centre will have artefact, simulators and interactive boards to highlight various facets of IAF. It will also showcase the vital role played by the service in various wars and assistance rendered for humanitarian assistance and disaster relief. This joint project of Administration of UT Chandigarh and IAF is planned to be completed by October.
